This is a complicated exercise that draws on skills you’ve developed in the Focus and Imagery modules, along with the mindfulness abilities you’ve been honing the past several weeks. Our goal here is to fix our focus on a single anchor point, just as with the Breathing Meditation, only here we’re going to create a reliable external anchor directly related to your specific sport. This will companion well with the imagery exercises you’ve practiced in previous modules, and in time, will allow you to bring mindfulness practices into the smallest breaks in your competition—such as during time outs or prior to free throws. Once you’re practiced in this meditation, it can be completed in as few as five seconds.
